Damnit just let me tank    2010-03-09
Ok so I'm bored at work and felt like relaying my ZF run last night. I was looking for an instance run. I really wanted to run Maraudon, but on my server, no one runs it, ever. So I am stuck running ZF at level 48 until I get to 50, then hopefully someone would be willing to have me come along at ST. But until that time I am running ZF. Well I get in a group that consisted of 48 Hunter(me), a 46 Warrior, 45 mage, 45 priest, and a 46 warlock. So I get a whisper, from the warrior, telling me to watch my aggro because I am 2 levels above him. To which I reply kindly telling him I will keep it under control. So we go in, and he marks the target, which I am suprised because it's rare to see that. Anyway, he wants the mage to sheep one mark, and me to freeze trap the other. I think it's a waste of time, because my pet could OT the other one and take it's health down while we quickly do away with the main target, but I do it anyway because I am a team player. So now, I have growl off, I'm trapping my target, the tank is tanking his, everything is going fine. A little slower than my liking, but I can't complain. So we are progressing, and at the split(where you can go left straight to Ghaz'rilla's pool, or right to the scarabs hall) There are 2 mobs being CCed and 2 attacking the tank so to get things over quicker I use Bestial Wrath...
Aldor vs Scryer    2010-03-04
I hate to be the newb who asks this, but which faction is better for hunters? I've been poring over the WoWWiki page, Comparison of Aldor and Scryer rewards, but I've been unable to come to a definite decision. Weapons-wise, there's nothing that screams, "THIS IS A HUNTER WEAPON!" (all joking aside, of course). Aldor have Vindicator's Brand, while Scryer has Retainer's Blade. The Aldor have Lightwarden's Band, while Scryer has Retainer's Leggings. As for the inscriptions, the Aldor ones focus on +atk, and the Scryer's on +crit. My hunter's not a crafter, so that's not a factor. Aldor seems like it might be the best, but I'm not certain, as the Scryers have some nice stuff too. Anyone have input? tales are more than true: not because they tell us dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten." ~ G.K. Chesterton My jaw w...
Guild starting Grull's    2010-03-03
Not to make waves or anything since I haven't been on wow for a long time, just came back recently, but in MC we never ran with pets. They die just way to fast. Also in a post here it has 3 cookie-cutter raid specs listed and the topic was posted by Aethien which has never steered me wrong yet. So is there anyone else who would like to comment on my spec who is or does raid as a MM. One last thing - I out DPS BM raid specs in my guild and we are basically geared the same. Edited, Apr 1st 2008 1:55pm by - Rogue - Alterac Mountains Ashhail - Hunter - Alterac MountainsYou are not running the cookie cutter raidspecc. Nowhere near cookie cutter. There are two cookie cutter raidspeccs these days, and they are BM/MM and Surv/MM. MM as the maintree is useful only for PvP and nothing else. Beast...
Just switched to frost at level 76. Love it so far. Tanked the Old Kingdom and was top DPS as well. Took Blade Barrier from Blood. Kept up Unbreakable Armor, Litchbane or other ice defense most of the time. Death chill and howling blast rocks - Able to pull off 5-6 crits at once every 3 minutes. The one advantage of hungering cold is it does infect everyone w/ frost fever which adds 10%% extra damage to your crit. I used to tank with a warrior. I was always the bottom of the dps and sucked at questing. It's kind of nice to tank and do some damage too. I'm sure once I hit 80 Ill have to respec to take more damage if i'm going to MT heroics or raids. With my current speck I may have to serve as an offtank / Dps but right now this works great. I prefer to dps, but everyone is always looking for a tank. Thus, it is now very easy to find people to run w/ in the lfg. Got the best of both worlds for now. Anaconda I'm frost spec's also and I agree hungering cold is broken almost everytime instantly, but its not best used as CCespecially if you've aleady dropped DnD, then you break it yourself. I use it effectively as an AOE. HC then HB works well on mobs. and I think my FS does good damage. Maybe we're doing something different.if u use FS wit a 1h or a fast 2h than it sucks try to get a slow wep. I normally don't knock people for there inability to play a class AND then post about it but...ah what the hell, I'll just rant about you're EPIC FAIL of a rant about a spec that is amazing when played correctly. I kinda like the post above me so I'll follow suit in his method of madness in contridicting each and every one of you're idiocies. Eh-hem... FROST IS VERY NEARLY USELESS Every class is "nealry useless" when played by people who don't know what the hell there doing or try a spec for one to two days and simply can't figure it out. TRY HARDER or come to the realization that maybe...forst doesn't suck, it may just not be for you. Don't come in bitch about it. In the 5-man raids I tanked, I only once even had the opportunity to use Hungering cold, and it was broken immediately by other raid members. It is all around an absolutely TERRIBLE ability. Hungering Cold is not terrible ability at all and NO, you don't use it in raids unless you're the last man standing and need to make a quick get-a-way before the boss eats you're ass and even then...most Boss's are immune to Freeze. Go Firgure. You're a TANK, not Crowd Controller. Personally, I find hungering cold useful for more PvE soloing and hell, even PvP. Won arena matches quite a few times freezing people and applying bandages for heals in dire situations. Works wonders and I can assume it pisses people off. ^_^ the problem with frost spec is that everything in the tree looks nicer than it really is. ...I won't even comment, just about every ability in the Frost Spec tree has it's uses and believe you me, they are nicer than the pictures they use to display them. Imp frost aura! How wonderful. The group will most likely get pounded to death instead of zapped. Not being sarcastic at all, but I have no idea what this means. Frost Aura is awesome and my guildies love being able to take a few more magical hits than normal. Frost Strike! Cant be dodged or parried, TERRIFIC! Too bad that is does approximately no damage. I use death coil more than I do frost strike so I can't REALLY bomb you for this comment as I have no in deapth review of it. ~shurgs~ Tis you're lucky day!!! You get my point, each skill in the frost tree looks great on paper, but once you get it to the battle field it breaks down. This is pretty much what you said ealier and again, don't blame Blizzard because you can't figure out how to use a certain spec tree to the fullest.I'm solo'ing 80 elites with frost. Gratned...the Foreman in Saranite mines was a pussy elite, still, I shall be proud of it none the less. The biggest problem with frost spec is that it is VERY hard to ever build up a significant amount of runic power. Runic power mastery is an utterly and totally useless talent in the frost tree, blizz kinda fumbled there. I have no problem keeping Runic power up, and that's beca...
I know there has been very little time to test out DK's in arena, but what do you think is a good build? Blood is the obvious choice, but how many points do you devote to blood? Here is the talent set that I will start with. 51 11 9. Let me know what you think.I'm just about to start Arena now that my guild has enough lvl 80's for us to try out some different combos....and have been wondering which spec will suit Arena better. 5v5 teams all seem to favour Unholy DK's with some blood or frost to shore up the self heals or defence respectively. 2v2 however is more about quick burst damage, nice CC and survivability. Clearly you have your trinket you got from the initial DK quests which you need and most others will have one too. As Unholy you can put down a nice AoE damage circle and drag them into it 1 by 1, but you also have stun length reducers in On a Pale Horse and enemy movement restriction with Desecration. The AoE probably lends itself to a 5v5 team more than a 2v2 team though. Blood is all about you healing yourself quickly enough to kill them before you die yourself. That said Rune Tap is a life saver, mark of Blood and Vampiric blood are both ideal for Arena. Mark the highest DPS person, pop VB and you will heal a considerable amount...very nice for rogues and retri pallies. Blood is also going to be nice for a single target. Frost is nicer than people think (and I am going to try my frost/unholy build out tonight in arena). not only do you slow the enemy down by 20%%, speed yourself up by 20%% but you also give your team-mate a haste buff too, you can do some serious damage with crits if Killing Machine procs and Howling Blast will hit both opposing players together and can hit for a good amount too. Hungering Cold is nice too. Assuming you have some other person with you with a form of stun/CC that will cause a trinket trigger then once they are out of that if you pop HC freeze both players and then just take out one at a time. Casters are theoretically easy with Strangulate and Mind Freeze and lets not forget about Anti-Magic Shell (or even better if your full Unholy with Anti-magic zone and a 100%% damage reduction from magic from AMS). Ranged dps (i.e. hunters) can be Deathgrispped and Chains of Ice'd to death to keep them in melee range. Rogues can be frustrated as long as you avoid the initial stun or trinket out, pop IBF giving stun resistance. This also works nicely against Pallies who like to stunlock and you also have strangulate for them too. Warriors are going to be interesting as a straight up melee fight but with some extra healing you should win this one and as blood you should cream them. I still have yet to fight a Shaman. I struggle with Druids, especially Resto druids, but theoretically strangulate, keep them in melee range with CoI and DG and make sure you have as many diseases up on them as possible. They are a hard fight though as ToL and Bear Form have very nice armour now and they can cast HoT's galore. I have also yet to fight an...

All of our spells still have a bigoeffient from Spellpower. Tohed by the Light is what GIVES you spellpower. Tired of that 41 dps me with 300 spellpower on it and a spellpower ehant? GET RID OF IT! Now youan have 500+ spellpower just from a talent that takes 3 points! Spellpower is STILL an absolute nessity, you just don't need to gearehant for it anymore. If you ever do any sort of boss fight (dungeon, hero, or raid) Judgements of the Just is simply a must. Fewer ioming attks = less damage = less stress on your healer. Very worthy of a few points. Kings is an all-or-nothing deal. Either put 0 points into it or put all 5 into it. If you roll with a Ret Pally for dungeonsraids, make sure he has it and then youan put the 5 points elsewhere. If you are typally the only Paladin in your group, you may want to sp for it sie no one else will be providing it. I worked out a sp that I like that allows me to put 5 points into Kings, so that is what Iurrently do. If my guild gets a reliable Ret who runs with me on a regular basis, I will resp out of Kings and put those 5 points into talents that will help to generate more TPS. Tohed by the Light: The reason that we don't want nor need Spell Power anymore is bause Tohed by the Light gives us all that we need, allowing us to stk Attk Power (or more spifally, Strength -- whh is how we get Attk Power and some Blk Value). Don't think of this talent as a threat booster, think of it as the ability that ALLOWS you to stay on par for threat with the otherlasses. In a sense, think of it as a permanent "Defensive Stae". Warriors, DKs, and Druids that are...
(Adds comment from Electronic Arts in paragraphs 9-11) By John Tilak BANGALORE, May 21 (Reuters) - The world's largest video game publisher Electronic Arts Inc. (ERTS.O) said it would take a 15 percent stake in Chinese online game operator The9 Ltd. (NCTY.O) for about $167 million as part of its international expansion. The9 will get exclusive rights for publishing EA's "FIFA Online" soccer game in China, the two companies said. An analyst said this is a way for Electronic Arts, which agreed in March to invest $105 million in South Korean online game company Neowiz Corp. (042420.KQ), to speed up its growth in Asia. "You'll see them accelerate their business in China," Lazard Capital Markets analyst Colin Sebastian said by phone. Sebastian said EA has found a reputable partner in The9, which distributes Blizzard Enter...

Fighting stances are unique to warriors in World of Warcraft. The stance a warrior fights in affects how the character gains rage. World of Warcraft warriors are able to fight in stances that are unique to the class. Central to the stances is the idea of rage. Unlike mana or energy, which caters and rogues use in World of Warcraft, rage starts at 0 and builds up as the warrior fights monsters. How rage is gained depends on which stance the warrior chooses to fight in. The warrior stances are defensive, battle, and fury. Defensive Stance Warriors who find themselves tanking will probably use this stance over the other two available. Rage in the defensive stance is gained when the warrior takes damage. It complements the abilities of the protection talent tree, but the stances are not dependent upon the warrior's specialization.. Battle Stance World of Warcraft warriors who fight in the battle gain rage when they deal and receive damage. While it may seem to complement the purpose of the...

As in many online games, death in Dark and Light is not permanent. So I think you''re going to see more and more people come, and you''re also going to see the stickiness of online games, that people didn''t think was going to happen.
